First time experiencing an all-inclusive and we picked a good one.  Azul Beach Riviera Maya is a Cancun Family Friendly All-Inclusive Resort that has everything you need for your vacation. Every year we take the kids someplace different on our Fall Family Vacation.  This year we opted to get them passports and start to get some mileage on their road to life books (that’s what I like to call passports).  Word of mouth is a powerful tool!  I reached out to co-workers for recommendations that needed the following:

  • family-friendly
  • all-inclusive
  • boutique-kind-of property
  • not too far from home for travel purposes
  • not on the main drag of any touristy location
  • safe~!

Not a tall list at all right 🙂 .   We had quite a few recommendations from friends but kept coming back to Azul Beach Riviera Maya in Cancun simply because I liked that it checked off all of my must haves and wasn’t over the top expensive.

We spent 5 days and 4 nights in paradise.  So let’s get down to the nitty-gritty and then we can talk about the bliss land it was.

CONS

The airport in Cancun has capitalized and mastered the tourist hassle.   Be prepared to get bamboozled on signing up for tons of tourist attractions even before you get to your hotel.  Some were really great, some were not.  Dealing with cash in a fast paced environment isn’t what I would recommend.  Hold onto your cash and if you haven’t signed up for fun extras online, grab them at your hotel which most offers the same as the airport if not better.

PROS

Now for the goodies!  Everything was eye pleasing and family oriented but in an adult way.  Does that make sense?  With our twins being 11, we weren’t too interested in childcare or younger kid activities.  Basically, they are tweens and want their own space so they can snap pictures and Instagram – you know, typical tween fun.  Azul Beach Resort has managed to make bringing your little people manageable and fun!  And per my littlest peanut, there were plenty of instamoments.

From the mouths of our then 11 year olds, ” Can we live here.”

The moment we walked inside the property,  it was like heaven was waiting for us.  The staff greeted us with cool sparkling white towels, champagne and slime drinks (healthy smoothies)  for the kids.

Azul Beach – Our room was second from the end and perfect for that swim up bar.

From there –  we initially had a garden view room but asked to view the swim up 1 bedroom.  Smitten at first sight!  We quickly upgraded to this style room (be smarter than us and just book this room if you have kids our age).  So convenient to be right at the pool and when you have kids that can swim and want to continue the fun after spending all day at the ocean, it’s the best thing ever.

Family Travel Tips for MEXICO

WATER:  I wish I I had my oils but this year’s trip I will be completely prepared. The myth about the water, yes it’s true but this particular resort does filter.  The resort offers bottled water in your room and each and every restaurant.  Plus they offered specialty water (cucumbers and fresh fruit) readily available.

PACK:  You really only need a swimsuit, empty belly and open heart to take all that the resort has to offer.  We only ventured off property to take family photos

and the town was super sweet, but we couldn’t wait to get back to the resort.

We plan family vacations twice per year, Fall & Spring.  The one piece that my children take away from these trips each year is the fun they have.  My cowboy and I take away the memories we are leaving our babies with.  The time spent together and memories we are making.  Priceless.
