Clean Products for Cleaning Your Home
Keeping our home clean and safe is a priority, especially when you have young adult children and pets sharing the space. Traditional cleaning products often contain harsh chemicals that can be harmful to both people and animals. Plus they hurt my nose and are strong. If you’re looking for a healthier, more natural way to maintain a sparkling clean home, consider adding Young Living essential oils to your shopping list you already have.
Why Choose Essential Oils for Cleaning?
Essential oils offer a natural alternative to chemical-laden cleaning products. Derived from plants, they have powerful antibacterial, antiviral, and antifungal properties, making them effective for cleaning. Plus, they leave behind a pleasant, natural fragrance instead of harsh chemical odors. Thieves is everything.
Young Living essential oils are especially popular because of their commitment to purity. Their oils are 100% pure and therapeutic-grade, meaning they are free from synthetic additives and meet strict quality standards. This makes them a safe choice for households with young adults and pets. And one of the reason we fell in love with the brand.
Essential Oils for Every Cleaning Task
Here’s how you can incorporate Young Living essential oils into your cleaning routine:
1. All-Purpose Cleaner: Thieves Essential Oil Blend
Thieves is one of Young Living’s most popular blends and for good reason. With a mix of clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary, it’s a powerhouse for cleaning and disinfecting. You can make an all-purpose cleaner by mixing 10-15 drops of Thieves oil with a cup of water and a cup of white vinegar in a spray bottle. This cleaner is perfect for wiping down surfaces like countertops, tables, and door handles.
2. Floor Cleaner: Lemon Essential Oil
Lemon essential oil is known for its fresh, uplifting scent and its ability to cut through grime. Add 10-15 drops of lemon oil to a bucket of warm water and use it to mop your floors. It’s safe for both wood and tile, and the natural scent will leave your home smelling fresh and clean. For LVP (luxury vinyl planks) I use Diluted vinegar and lemon essential oils and it’s perfect on top of the amazing smell your home will have.
3. Pet-Friendly Air Freshener: Lavender Essential Oil
Lavender oil is calming and safe to use around pets. To keep your home smelling fresh, especially in areas where your pets spend time, mix 10 drops of lavender oil with water in a spray bottle. Mist the air as needed for a pet-friendly air freshener that also promotes relaxation.
4. Stain Remover: Tea Tree Essential Oil
Tea tree oil is known for its antimicrobial properties and is a great addition to your cleaning arsenal. To tackle stubborn stains on carpets or upholstery, mix a few drops of tea tree oil with a teaspoon of baking soda and enough water to form a paste. Apply it to the stain, let it sit for 10 minutes, and then scrub gently before blotting with a clean cloth. Side Note: tea tree is great for the occasional acne breakouts.
5. Laundry Freshener: Purification Essential Oil Blend
The Purification blend from Young Living, which includes citronella, lemongrass, and tea tree oils, is excellent for eliminating odors. Add 5-10 drops to your laundry detergent or directly into the washing machine to keep your clothes and linens smelling fresh.
Safe Practices for Using Essential Oils with Young Adults and Pets
When using essential oils in a household with young adults and pets, it’s important to follow a few safety guidelines:
- Dilute Properly: Essential oils are highly concentrated, so always dilute them with water, vinegar, or a carrier oil before using them.
- Patch Test: Before using any new oil, especially around pets, do a patch test on a small area to ensure there’s no adverse reaction.
- Ventilation is Key: When cleaning with essential oils, make sure the room is well-ventilated, especially if you have pets. Some essential oils can be overwhelming for animals in large quantities.
- Store Safely: Keep your essential oils and homemade cleaners out of reach of pets and children to prevent accidental ingestion.
